Super Mom

Sometimes, let’s face. We are out of ideas for a holiday. It’s difficult to outbeat yourself or try not to repeat last year. Well, last year, I had an idea and it went okay.

I made a printable, a card for students’ moms. And some corny and cheap earrings. I personally believe it works for all grades, but it’s definitely cuter with the youngest. Let’s face it. As moms, we are all corny.

In paper, it didn’t look that bad. I really believe I was on the right track.

The original idea was to make it in class with my students but I didn’t plan the time right… there wasn’t enought to finish them. We barely did for one group.

CAM00574But they did look good on me. YES, it’s a paper clip.

Three Wise Men

Let’s start this month and back to school with a craft.

Let’s talk about 3 Wise Men. I found this amazing easy craft to start the year on a good note. Let’s paint and decorate the classroom.

The whole idea belongs to Catholic Icing dot com in their post 3 Kings Epiphany Crafts

Little Snowflake

Last year, to my shame, I partipated on the Christmas Festival. Why shame? Well, it was last notice and thankfully this was the warmup song of December.

Little Snowflake Video. It’s not a bad song and it reviews part of the body and the kids like it. I made quick signs with the snowflakes and the ribbons and that was it.

I think it of redoing it this year but with more preparation.

Once upon a time, I was annoyed like pretty much everybody by the ads around the webpages. For once, something called my attention AND it was

With your FREE account you can download 10 worksheets (totally worthy if you manage well your resources). If you want unlimited access to download at leasure, well you have to pay.

I have used it to make the bulletin boards, extra activities with the sounds, holiday activities and so on.

Superheroes… not just for Halloween

Last year, I did this actvity in a new school as a spin-off of the ever classics of ghosts, witches and black cats.

I found the printable on Free Printable Crazy Glasses! by Picklebumps.

At first, I was preoccupied that my students won’t like it.

But they were over the moon.

I have so students who are total fan of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and I found this cool printable for them of ancient Greek coins. I will use some yellow pages to make coins for them. Hi Hi

Play Money, Responsibility and Shopping

The idea is not new, I am afraid but it’s something I haven’t done: give play money to the students in order to buy something at the end of a period like a month, project, bimester, etc.

My 3rd grade secondary EFL teacher did it (16 years ago). They were called pilidollars and we used them at the end of the bimester for a portion of our grade.

Now, it’s my time to do it. I made my play money. (Printable here)

I pasted an envelope in my students hardcover notebooks to keep their money. I gave students one bill after each checked exercise.

I set up a day to put my kiosk. I bought small and cute things to sale. Even made a cashier box to put the money.

I taught how to ask for a price.

It wasn’t so bad. It did motivate some kids to work harder because I had only 12 dollars for each class. However, some students stopped everything at all once they saw there were no more tickets.

Since I had some issues with the dollars like cutting a LOT and lost dollars. I MADE checks with different denominations $1, $2, $3, $4 and $5 and NOW I give them after 5 checked daily classworks. (For play check click here)
